Eating With Thao

If you are new to cooking, you are probably wondering what are some must haves you might need in your pantry to get started on your “cooking at home” adventure. Below are some of the items I deemed essential in my pantry. Hope these ideas will help you as you build out your own pantry to match your food preference!

SPICES:

  1. Black pepper/peppercorn (highly recommend using fresh peppercorn over pre-ground pepper since it is more fragrant, floral and peppery)

  2. Seasoning sauce (Golden mountain brand)
  3. Dark soy sauce
  4. Five spice
  5. Sesame oil
  6. Shaoxing wine
  7. Rice Vinegar
  8. Mirin
  9. Oyster sauce
  10. Fish sahce
  11. Hoisin sauce
  12. Chili oil
  13. Sambal
  14. Sesame seeds
  15. Gochujang
  16. Chicken bouillon powder
  17. Dashi stock powder
  18. Alsa single acting agent baking powder
FRESH INGREDIENTS:
  1. Garlic
  2. Green onion
  3. Onion
  4. Shallot
 BAKING:
  1. All-purpose flour
  2. Bread flour
  3. Sugar
  4. Baking powder
  5. Baking soda
  6. Powdered sugar
  7. Light brown sugar
  8. Dark brown sugar
  9. Unsalted butter (in the fridge)
